Modified Huck Finn Returns to Elgin Pond April 27th

Uxbridge Huck Finn Youth Fishing Days returns this spring on a reduced scale. This year there will be no official contest taking place, instead, families will now be able to fish at Elgin Pond at their leisure all season long, starting April 27th, with the chance to win pop-up prizes! Elgin Pond will be stocked with 500 Brook trout for all the fishing fun, courtesy of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Keep an eye out for Boomer the Bass on May 4th, 11th and 25th, as he will be out and about...

Mobile ID and Benefits Access Hubs will help eligible residents with accessing benefits

Whitby, Ontario – Mobile ID and Benefits Access Hubs will be available across Durham Region this April and May to support residents living with low income.

What: Mobile ID and Benefits Access Hubs can help eligible residents to:

  • Access Social Insurance Numbers (SINs), Birth Certificates and other forms of identification (ID). Service Canada will be issuing SINs on site, provided residents bring two valid identity documents. Service Ontario will share about provincial ID.

Residents are invited to take part in the Region’s Curbside Giveaway Day on May 4

Building on the success of last year’s event, the Curbside Giveaway Day is back. Curbside Giveaway Day is an event organized in co-operation with the local area municipalities, where residents can place unwanted items in good condition—clearly marked as “Free”—on their curb for anyone to pick up. At the end of the Giveaway Day, residents return unclaimed items to their home.
